Exam Preparation
What You Can Do Before This Course:
Get your application in to PMI to take the exam ?If you want to start studying before you take this class, we suggest (though it is not required) you submit your application to PMI to take the exam. We highly recommend you submit your application online (www.pmi.org), as it will save you a lot of time. Be warned though, it may take you up to two weeks to put the information together for your application! PMI is currently giving people one year to take the exam once they are approved to take the exam.
What to do if you have not had formal training in project management:
Take this seriously! You should have had high quality project management training, taught by a PMP?before you try to take the PMP?exam! This is so important that, since January 2002, PMI has added 35 hours of project management training as a requirement to take the PMP?exam! No matter how much project management experience you have, you will be relying on your training, not your experience, to pass this exam.
Why you may need a project management training course in addition to a PMP?Exam Prep course:
This course covers 24 hours of training time and therefore if you have NOT completed any previous project management training you will be required to make up the remaining 11 hours. IIR offers a range of PMI certified courses run throughout the year. Visit the Projects section for details.
Qualifications to take PMI畳s exam:
In order to take the PMP?Exam you must meet their requirements. These include a bachelor抯 degree and 4,500 hours of project management experience or 7,500 hours without a bachelor抯 degree. Please review PMI畳s certification application on their website at www.pmi.org.
Amount of study time needed:
Other courses require over 300 hours of study to get ready to take the exam (if they even tell you a number). Our course requires only about 24 hours, depending on your experience and training. Many students have only needed 8 hours of study! Additional study time is needed after this course in order to pass the exam!
